Zerx

Run AI on your own machine - free, local, private.

Zerx is a desktop AI expert system that keeps your work on your computer, in a workspace of your own choice. Open a folder, describe the change you want in plain language, and review every edit before it lands. The models run locally at no cost - no subscription, no per-token billing, and nothing uploaded.

AI that runs on your machine

Zerx uses models running locally on your own hardware. That changes what the tool costs you, and who gets to see your work.

Free

Models at no cost

Run open models locally with no subscription and no per-token billing. Cloud models are optional, and only if you want them.

Private

Nothing leaves your computer

Your files stay on your machine. Prompts and code are not uploaded anywhere.

In control

You approve every change

Zerx shows each edit before it lands, so nothing is written behind your back.

How it works

1. Open a folder

Point Zerx at a project on your machine.

2. Describe the change

Say what you want in plain language: rewrite this section, tidy that list, draft the reply, fix the error.

3. Review and accept

Zerx proposes the edits. You read them, and decide what lands.

Email, drafted for you

Connect a mailbox and Zerx reads, sorts, and drafts replies to your email - right where you're working. It never sends a message on your behalf.

Read your inbox

Point Zerx at any IMAP mailbox and see your recent messages - subject, sender, and a snippet - newest first.

Triaged as it arrives

Every message is labeled Action, Needs reply, FYI, or Archive, so what needs attention floats to the top.

Draft replies with AI

Pick a message and the model writes a reply into your chat, where you review and edit it before it goes anywhere.

You still hit send

"Reply in mail client" opens your own email app with the draft pre-filled. Zerx can organize your mailbox - mark read, archive, spam, delete, unsubscribe - but sending stays yours.

Intern with us

Zerx is also an internship. Test it, report what you find, and the work you ship is credited to you.

Real work that ships

Work on a product that ships, with every report read and answered.

A written record

A record of what you did that shipped, credited to you by name.

A reference

A reference from us when you finish a term.

Earn cloud tokens

Cloud-lane tokens, earned on the quality of your reports.

Not a promise of employment.

The Rise of Machines

Machines that can act on their own change what people have to do. We build software for that shift: it runs on your machine, under your control, and shows you every change before it lands.

Zerx is the first of them. Autonomous Machines builds it.

Microsoft Edge may say the file “isn’t commonly downloaded.” Choose Keep (from the download’s “…” menu). If a second SmartScreen warning appears, click the arrow next to Delete and pick Keep anyway.

Chrome may say "This type of file can harm your computer." Click Keep, then open it from Downloads.

Firefox asks where to save the file. Choose Save File, then open it from Downloads.

Safari may ask you to confirm the download. Click Allow, then open it from Downloads.

Your browser may warn about this download. Choose Keep / Save / Allow, then open it from Downloads.

When you run the installer, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC.” This is expected, and it is not a virus warning. Zerx is code-signed, and the publisher on that signature is Autonomous Machines — you can confirm it yourself under the installer’s Properties → Digital Signatures. Windows shows the prompt because it has not yet seen many downloads from this publisher; it stops appearing as more people install Zerx.

To carry on: click More info, then Run anyway.
